The Student Conservation Association (SCA), America’s #1 conservation service organization seeks a National Director of Risk Management and Safety. This position will be based in the Charlestown, NH office, providing organizational leadership for risk management including developing and nurturing SCA’s risk management culture and overseeing all aspects of safety for SCA.
Primary Responsibilities: Risk Management and Safety - Develop and implement short and long-term strategic objectives for SCA risk management including managing medical review, liability, exposure, and insurance areas to ensure appropriate protections for staff, members, and the organization. Serve as a member of SCA senior level management of SCA incidents. Organizational Leadership – Lead SCA “standards” revision, development, and implementation. Develop and oversee SCA program quality audit/review process. Develop program audit systems and reports. Evaluate and analyze all SCA incidents. Staff Development – Develop and implement SCA’s risk management train-the-trainer curriculum along with long distance risk management learning and other technology based training programs. Provide organizational risk management leadership initiatives to support on-going programs and steward new program opportunities.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in related field highly preferred. 6-8 years of progressively responsible experience including program management, risk management and safety, and other key skills related to the position. Demonstrated leadership ability with a geographically, ethnically and philosophically diverse staff. Demonstrated success as a leader of change. The ability and willingness to challenge conventional wisdom and make unpopular decisions when needed. Strong internal and external communication skills. Ability to build relationships both internally across program operations staff and externally. Willingness to travel. Valid driver’s license and MVR that meets SCA standard required Criminal background check required that meets SCA standards Current EMT-B or WFR medical certification is required.
