Parks Trails Coordinator

Riverside County Regional Park and Open Space District

 

Riverside County, located in beautiful Southern California, is currently seeking a Parks Trails Coordinator to perform professional and technical park recreational trails duties; assist in planning and implementing a trails program which ensures the safety of the trails for the public; fulfill the requirements set forth in the District's Trails Master Plan and perform administrative and other related work as required.

Incumbents of positions in this class report to the Assistant General Manager, Operations & Natural Resources, and assist in the management and operation of the regional trails system throughout Riverside County . Primary responsibilities include assisting in the development of recreational trails, implementing trails safety programs, recruiting and training volunteers, organizing and planning trails events and conducting trails use surveys and studies. In addition, the incumbent will make presentations concerning riding, hiking and bicycle trails to various agencies.

 

Some of the duties of this position include: Assisting with review of trail development plans from various planning agencies; researching and reviewing title issues related to trail plans; preparing maps and graphic materials to be used for presentation and submission for planning review; and making presentations to local planning commission regarding trail issues.

Educational Requirements:

Knowledge of : Horses, bikes, and hiking as a means of transportation and recreation; Trail maintenance and construction standards and equipment; Community relations and outreach techniques; Mathematical principles involved in project budgeting and monitoring; Principles and practices of natural resource conservation; Park management and general law enforcement.

Education (Preferred): Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Environmental Science, Ecology Landscape Architecture, Recreation, Biological Sciences, Transportation Planning or a related field.

AND

Experience : Considerable experience in planning, landscape architecture, recreation, and park operations, landscape construction, or a related field that demonstrates acquisition of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities .

Salary:

$15.59 - $20.23 hr. / $32,420.75 - $42,079.86 annually as well as full benefits, including Annual Leave, Paid holidays, and Retirement.
