BLM Glennallen Alaska seeks seasonal trail workers

Land and Water Conservation Fund state assistance program would receive funds.

The Bureau of Land Management in Glennallen Alaska will be hiring 3-5 seasonal positions to assist in managing the district trail program. Positions will be hired at the GS 4 level (13.71/hr) and the GS 5 level (15.34/hr) depending on qualifications. Duties consist of trail rehabilitation, trail hardening, maintaining trail counters, trailheads, and some visitor services. Work will be performed with the use of handtools, OHV's, and power tools. Duties require at times for employees to stay in field camps for up to 8 days at a time. Fully furnished and supplied housing is provided for approx. $260/month. BLM Glennallen is located in the Copper River Basin of eastern Alaska. The district comprises over 7 million acres ranging from coastal plain to tundra. Summer weather is extremely varied. Long, dry periods with temps of 70 degrees are not uncommon but can be followed by days of rain and cooler temps. Snow is possible at higher elevations. Glennallen is about 180 road miles from Anchorage, 200 miles from Canada, and 80 miles from Valdez. There is ample opportunity to fish, sightsee, hike, raft, etc. on off time.
