Forest Service seeks Trails Specialist in Vallejo, CA Trails Specialist (NTE 2 Years) Vallejo, CA R5 - Pacific Southwest Region - Regional Office This position is not to exceed (NTE ) 2 years. The incumbent will coordinate the mapping of OHV routes and off-route impact areas on National Forest Lands in California. The incumbent establishes a program of work under the direction of the project manager within a large budget, collects, establishes, and monitors mapping relative to standards. He/she will track GIS and INFRA (asset management tool) data related to travel management/recreation transportation from the forests. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating the mapping of system and non-system OHV trails, unclassified roads, and off-route impact areas. Other tasks include preparation, administration, and financial tracking of contracts, agreements, and other costs and periodic oral and powerpoint briefings on accomplishments and budget updates for FS, State, and public groups. This is a challenging opportunity for a person looking for change. The successful applicant must be able to learn quickly in a fast paced job and who has superior skill in communicating orally and in writing and coordinating with others. The work includes sedentary office, extensive telephone work, and trips to Forest Service field units in California. Experience in hiking and operating a motorcycle or ATV on trails is recommended.
