National Scenic Byways Program 2006 Grants Announced

Trails advocates should look into the numerous Scenic Byways projects which include trails of various types, as a potential source of funding.

On August 29, 2006, Acting Secretary of Transportation Maria Cino named 309 projects in 45 States to receive a total of $25.5 million in discretionary National Scenic Byways Program grants in '06. Since 1992, the National Scenic Byways Program has provided over $275 million in funding for 2,181 State and nationally designated byway projects in 50 States, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia.
